Every child should have the opportunity to enjoy every day fun things like going to summer camp, hanging out with friends, enjoying nature, doing crafts and getting exercise. That is not the case for the children living in the Emergency Homeless Shelter in the summer. But thanks to everyone who supported “Paxton’s Taste of the Town” pub crawl in Leesburg on June 3, these kids are currently at the YMCA Loudoun County summer day camp at Cool Spring ES here in Leesburg and some of the kids in these pictures are the kids from the local emergency homeless shelter. Paxton’s Taste of the Town event was so successful, we not only funded all of the children who will live in the shelters this summer, but we were also able to fund additional scholarships so that YMCA could offset costs for other children who could not afford camp.
The YMCA hosts remarkable camps in different venues, like elementary schools, across the County. YMCA’s Executive Director, Angel Cerritos, has gone above and beyond in his partnership with the Paxton Trust to provide resources and assistance to the children in the shelters. Thank you, Angel! It has been a joy to see the children flourish in the YMCA’s WONDERFUL camps!
