Paxton’s Fun on the Fourth!

The 4th of July brought more than a great view of Ida Lee’s fireworks to the Paxton Campus as the Paxton Trust hosted “Paxton’s Fun on the Fourth” celebration for kids in the community! In the spirit of Rachel Paxton, who would invite the children of Loudoun to her property for performances and events, we invited children from the different organizations and agencies the Paxton Trust has served in the past year to enjoy games, snow cones, and a giant waterslide thanks to our corporate partner Virginia Fun Services! The music of Laurie Blue kept us entertained, and wonderful volunteers from St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church and our community helped the children make necklaces, a windsock, and other fun crafts in red, white, and blue!

It means so much to children in need in our community that the Paxton Campus provides these opportunities. One mom gave us this heartwarming feedback:

“Wow, what a wonderful event! We had a blast. My son did the water slide for 2 hours straight! Thanks very much to all who worked hard to put it together. It was the first year we’ve done anything to celebrate the fourth because I know the big event at Ida Lee would be too much for our family. Thanks again!”

And from another family:

“…thank you, your staff and volunteers for making last night possible.  It is because of you that my family met two different friends we hadn’t seen in a while before we move to Charlottesville.  We watched the Leesburg fireworks for the first time (lived here 5 years), watched the fireflies and drove home in less than 15 minutes.  The Paxton Campus has been a place where special needs families can get support for years and we thank you!”

Everyone enjoyed the amazing (and beautiful) therapy dogs Nic and Chip of Summit Therapy Animal Services, LLC (and of course their talented handlers Michelle and Kris)! Our corporate partners such as Dos Tequilas Grill, Subway, Solo NY Pizza, Moe’s Southwest Grill, and the moms of Boy Scout Troop 1910 made sure no one went hungry!

The Paxton Trust strives to fulfill the vision of Rachel Paxton by serving children in need, and one way is in providing opportunities like these on the Paxton Campus.  We thank our corporate partners and tireless volunteers who made this a day to remember for so many children!
